Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn @ Soup Kitchen, Manchester - April 2019

If anyone has followed me from the beginning of my “journey” in photography then you’ll know that a big part of it has been in music photography. It’s been a few years now since I took any photos properly at a gig but last night I attended Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn’s performance - supported by Manik MC - at the Soup Kitchen, Manchester.

You could say that I forgot how difficult photographing in low light venues was, but it’s also reignited my passion for music photography and so is something that I’m pledging to involve myself more in for the rest of 2019. Stay tuned to see if I stick to that or not.

If you haven’t already heard Frankie Stew & Harvey Gunn, and haven’t already started streaming their most recent project “The Lakes”, get to know. A massive thank you to them for putting on a great night.

To see more shots from this night, as well as more from other events and shoots, you can follow me over on Instagram.

Chumachenko

It’s been a while since I thought to write anything on here, but I wanted to share some photos with you from my recent shoot with the lovely Chumachenko (Insta).

This one was a little experimental, in terms of differing from my style, and if you’ve seen any of my work before then you’ll know what I mean.

The concept with the cream backdrop was something I’ve wanted to experiment with for a while now and when mood-boarding for this shoot thought it was a perfect opportunity to put it into practice. I bought a dust sheet (buy here) and stool (buy here) from Amazon and took to a local park; simple and very low-cost.

If you want to work with me, I’ve opened my books up for the rest of 2018 and the beginning of 2019. Please do get in touch so that we can work out some availability and the correct pricing package. (Book before November 1st and receive a 16% discount!) This is a call to all models, bands and musicians, bloggers, or generally any one needing their photo taken, but remember that I also offer family and event (including wedding) shoots.

If you’re a photographer, my first preset pack (SJC01) is currently on sale for just £12. This includes six presets, a mixture of colour and black and white, that are compatible with Lightroom (and can also be installed as actions through Photoshop). To purchase, you can find them in my shop, but to explore people using them, feel free to take a look at the #SJC01Presets hashtag on Instagram.

Connect with me on Instagram, Twitter, FacebookYouTube or Behance to see more of my work.

2017: A Recap

2017 has been a pivotal year for me, both personally and professionally. Whether it be through photography or moving to a new city, among other things, I’ve had the absolute pleasure to meet some of the best people and experience some of the best moments.

In terms of career accomplishments, alongside Tom O’Neill, we launched the first issue of our magazine SMTH MAG (which is available to order now). I’ve had the opportunity to embark in wedding photography and therefore been able to share so many special moments with people and their friends and family. I travelled to Greece, travelled to the USA, travelled to Amsterdam, and moved from London to Manchester. I had the opportunity to continue working with some of my favourite people, such as Society of Alumni, but also with new people I’ve had the pleasure to meet, such as Manga Saint HilareMatty Leghari and CLBRKS. I’ve also had the great chance of working with VOXI by Vodafone and covering their launch, meaning that I was able to meet a range of wonderful creatives and guests.

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported me over the last year. Here’s to equal growth in 2018! Wishing you a wonderful and prosperous new year.

If you’d like to work with me in 2018, please get in touch!
